How to stay calm when you know you'll be stressed - Ted Talks

Watching the TED talk by Daniel Levitin about his experience breaking into his own house, I couldn't help but reflect on my own experiences of stress and how it affects decision-making. Levitin talks about how stress releases cortisol, which can cloud our thinking and affect our ability to make good decisions. This resonated with me because I have noticed that when I am under stress, my ability to think clearly and make rational decisions is severely impaired. What struck me most was Levitin's suggestion of using "prospective hindsight" or a "pre-mortem" to anticipate potential problems and minimize their impact. This is something I hadn't considered before, but I can see how it would be incredibly valuable in both my personal and professional life. By taking the time to anticipate potential problems and plan for them, I can avoid costly mistakes and minimize the impact of unforeseen events.
